Happy Birthday Bandon Lighthouse

The Lighthouse with its New Paint Job

The Harbor

The Lighthouse before its Birthday Paint Job

The Bandon Lighthouse celebrated its 112 birthday on February 29th. I've been going to Bandon for almost four years now and I have still not visited the Lighthouse. I do often drive down to the Jetty and view the Lighthouse from across the water. At Christmas time it is glowing with lots of lights. Christmas is so beautiful in Bandon with the little board walk, the lighthouse, the boats in the harbor and the town lite up with lights.
The Lighthouse received a fresh paint job for its birthday. I heard many towns folk were very upset about the red paint. It certainly has changed the look and I'm sure the city will not be hearing the end to the complaints for a long time.
From my little cottage up the hill from the harbor I can hear the fog horn which is located right by the Jetty where the Coquille River spills out into the ocean. It is a faint sound from my place and I love to lay in bed in the morning and listen to the sound which has a calming, grounding effect on me.
Until Next Time
Kathleen
